Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh, wife of former Education Minister and vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has urged for major changes to improve menstrual hygiene, especially for young girls.

She made this appeal at Accra Girls Senior High School during the 64th anniversary menstrual hygiene event, where she was a special guest.

“Menstrual hygiene is very important to me. Many girls struggle during their periods due to a lack of sanitary products, limited knowledge about menstrual health, and the stigma attached to menstruation,” she said.

Mrs. Adade-Prempeh highlighted that proper hygiene practices are crucial for keeping girls in school, boosting their confidence, and ensuring they can fully engage in their education.

She called for a united effort to combat the stigma surrounding menstrual hygiene, stating, “I strongly believe this narrative must change, as menstruation is a natural process, and no girl should feel ashamed of it.”

She also shared photos from the event on her Facebook page.
