Former Ghana football legend, Mohammed Polo, has charged the Black Stars to build on their back-to-back wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
After winning only two games in 10 matches in 2024 and failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, the senior national team kicked off 2025 on a bright note with a back-to-back win against Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday 5 and 6 games.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Polo, a 1978 AFCON winner, called on the team to be consistent in their performance.
“I think it is very good especially missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which is unprecedented but winning these matches has given us some hope but they should keep on going because it is not over because there still matches to be played so we hope there should be consistency in their performance which is very important,” he said.
The back-to-back wins have propelled the Black Stars to the top of Group I with 15 points with four matches to end the qualifiers.
Ghana will take on Chad and Mali in the Matchday 7 and 8 games in September before wrapping up their games against Comoros and Central African Republic.
