We can still improve in certain areas – Black Stars coach Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, says there are areas his side can improve on despite their back-to-back wins 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

After a poor year in 2024, the four-time African champions made a good start to 2025 with a 5-0 win against Chad and a 3-0 win against Madagascar in the Matchday 5 and 6 games of the qualifiers during the March international break.

These wins ended Ghana’s six-game winless streak and moved the team three points clear at the top of Group I with 15 points, ahead of second-placed Comoros.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Addo highlighted the positives but stressed the need to improve.

“We have certain areas where we can always improve. We had a solid defence, and we also scored a lot of goals [against Chad and Madagascar],” he said.

“But in between, the connection has to be much stronger, because especially the second game against Mali will be very tough. If we continue like that, we will be successful,” he added.

With four matches remaining, the Black Stars sit at the top of Group I with 15 points. The senior national team will regroup for the Matchday 7 and 8 games against Chad and Mali in September.
