$2.7B Gold Exports Mark Ghana’s Strong Start to 2025

Ghana’s small-scale gold exports soared to $2.7 billion from January to April 2025, according to newly released data from the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod).

This marks a significant jump from $670.5 million recorded during the same period in 2023 and $862.4 million in 2024.

The weight of gold exported in the first four months of 2025 stood at 30,479.5kg – over four times the 7,000kg shipped in 2023 and nearly half the 19,369kg exported in 2024 during the same period.

Quarterly comparisons show a consistent growth trend: Q1 (Jan–Mar) exports rose from $354.4M in 2023 to $557.7M in 2024, before rocketing to $1.83B in 2025.

April alone in 2025 brought in $897.6M – more than the entire Q1 of 2024.

This sharp growth reflects strong international demand and improvements in export monitoring by Goldbod.
