The Electoral Commission ( EC) has stated categorically that a stolen Biometric Verification Device ( BVD) cannot jeopardize the integrity of the 2024 elections.
The Commission said, “BVDs are only used to verify voters, they are not used to vote.”
The EC gave the assurance in a statement issued in Accra on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in reaction to the arrest of one Yaw Korateng at Nsawam in the Eastern Region for having a device suspected to be the property of the EC.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

Collaboration
In the EC statement signed by Deputy Chairman, Operations, Samuel Tettey, the commission said it is conducting its own investigations and would collaborate with the police to come to the bottom of the matter.
